Apple AirPort Express now does 802.11n

The announcements just keep on coming. Between the newly revised MacBook Pros and the unveiling of the iPhone SDK, the folks over at Apple have been quite busy during the last few weeks. Well, apparently they haven’t let this get in the way of upgrading their AirPort product line.

On Monday, a new version of the AirPort Express (a wireless router which bears an uncanny resemblance to an Apple power supply) was announced. The diminutive wireless device now supports 802.11n and, thanks to a new technology which Apple calls multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), the AirPort Express now has up to five times the speed and twice the range of previous models.

The AirPort Express is Mac and PC compatible and supports up to 10 users at once. It allows for wireless printing and also has a feature called AirTunes, which allows you to connect your AirPort Express to a stereo (using either an analog or digital optical cable) and wirelessly stream music from your computer.

The new AirPort Express is available online at the Apple Store and retails for $99.
